The Childhood Edit is a child photography business that was created to capture authentic moments of childhood.
We believe the most meaningful portraits aren’t about perfect poses or elaborate backdrops - they’re about expression and personality that make each child uniquely themselves. Our sessions are thoughtfully designed to capture these authentic expressions in a relaxed studio setting.
We created The Childhood Edit to be a consistent studio experience families can easily return to again and again. In just 10 minutes, you can capture beautiful, timeless portraits of your child - images you’ll find yourself looking at and treasuring for years to come.
Our goal is to make the experience feel effortless for both parents and kids. A place you can visit every few months, once a year, or whenever you want to capture the next stage of childhood as it unfolds.
Meet the Founder
I started The Childhood Edit to help families capture the meaningful moments of childhood that they’ll share and treasure for years to come.
The inspiration came from a friend whose son had just turned three. As we were talking, her phone lit up with the sweetest photo of her little boy. It was such a simple moment, but it stayed with me—the way a single image could hold so much of who a child is at that exact point in time.
I began imagining a studio where more families in my community could have these photos taken. A place they could stop in for a short session every few months, or once a year, and leave with vibrant, funny, and beautiful, portraits that quietly document their kids’ childhood as it unfolds.
I have two daughters, and every time I look back at their photos, I smile. Seeing how much they’ve grown, I’m grateful I had the foresight to capture those moments when they were small.
Today, The Childhood Edit captures the expressions, personalities, and priceless moments that make each stage of childhood so special.
Meet the Photographer
Hi, I'm Stephanie Cristall, a Seattle-based children's portrait photographer with over 20 years of experience capturing the magic of childhood.
I believe the best photographs happen when kids are just being kids. My sessions are relaxed, playful, and full of laughter because the real moments, the ones you'll treasure forever, can't be posed. They have to be lived. My job is simply to be there when they happen.
Over two decades behind the lens has taught me one thing above all else: children are endlessly surprising, wonderfully unpredictable, and absolutely captivating to photograph. Every session is different, and that's exactly what I love about this work.
Whether your little one is bold and bouncy or quiet and curious, I'll meet them exactly where they are and create images that are authentically, beautifully them.
